I’ve wanted to do this trail in one day for over 25 years.
The person who got me into backpacking when I was in my teens did it in the mid 90s. His goal was sub-24 hours. He did it. It was rad and then things moved on.
It’s been marinating in the back of my head since. What if? Well, tomorrow is my day. Tomorrow, Sunday June 20th, I will attempt to do the Summit Trail over Pine Valley in one day. Actually, I’m going to attempt to do it in less than 10 hours. Hoping for somewhere between 7 and 8 hours, but a lot of that is going to depend on how many trees are down and whether this turns into trail hurdles instead of trail running.
The current FKT is just under 10 hours. Hoping to snag that…
